The Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and France reviewed in a telephone conversation on Sunday evening the ways to establish a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Iran PressIran news: Masoud Pezeshkian and Emanuel Macron discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the escalation of the tensions in southern Lebanon.

The tensions between Southern Lebanon and northern Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine escalated as the Israeli regime launched air raids on southern Dahiya of Beirut and assassinated the leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and several commanders of the movement on September 26, 2024.

Pezeshkian stressed that the Islamic Republic has always been seeking a region free of war and welcoming truce and told Macron:

"Even after the Zionist regime's cowardly assassination of Martyr Haniyeh in Tehran, we practiced self-restrain for a while with a cease-fire promised by the leaders of Western countries in the hope to prevent the killing of innocent people; But, intensifying the bombing of Gaza and extending it to Lebanon, the Zionists showed that they do not adhere to any humanitarian framework and international law."

He called on Maron as the President of France to persuade the leaders of the European countries to exert pressure on the Israeli regime to put an end to the genocide it has launched in Gaza and Lebanon.

France recently decided to stop sending arms to the Israeli regime.
