Iran Press/America: According to the Iran Press Agency from Caracas, Nicolas Maduro, along with the government delegation, and in the presence of the speaker of the National Assembly, several presidents, foreign ministers, ambassadors, and representatives of various countries, was sworn in as the 15th president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The Venezuelan president described achieving comprehensive peace and maintaining and expanding peace as the main program of himself and his government, saying that the government and people of Venezuela have always wanted peace.
In a speech after the inauguration ceremony, the Venezuelan president announced a national call to amend the country's constitution with the participation of popular and civil institutions, the government, the parliament, and related centers.
Confronting the threats of destructive new technologies, supporting the family, implementing the seven-point plan for economic, social, and political development, and continuing the fight against colonial domination were among the most important programs announced by President Maduro.
Since early morning, many Venezuelans have celebrated and danced in the squares and streets around the National Assembly, congratulating Nicolás Maduro on his victory.
Nicolas Maduro surpassed his Western-leaning rival Edmundo González in the July 28 election, winning more than 51 percent of the vote. He became the president of Venezuela for the third consecutive time and for six years.
After the results of the presidential election were announced, the defeated rival, who is supported by the United States and several European countries, along with the government's opponents, did not accept the results.
Nicolas Maduro is the 15th president of Venezuela after being inaugurated. With socialist policies like the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, he has always opposed the interventionist policies of the United States and some Western countries.
