Iran's ICT Minister:

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology said that only 0.1 of all Iran's villages are deprived of Internet connection which is going to be connected by the end of this current Iranian year (starting on March 21).

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at the open session of Iran's parliament on Tuesday Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said that the necessity of getting connected to Iran's national channel of communication amid the COVID-19 outbreak has been increased.

Azari Jahromi went on to refer to the fact that all efforts have been done by Iran's Ministry of Information were all aimed at accelerating the process.

According to Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology, some 35,000 villages out of 39,500 rural areas of the Islamic Republic have been already connected to the Internet network system, with 4000 remaining villages which are going to be connected as well by the end of this year.

Answering the question raised by the parliamentarian about the internet connection in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, Azari Jahromi said that the province is equipped with 12,000 kilometers with the current government being responsible for about 4,700km of it.

Iran's Top communication official went on to explain further that due to the COVID-19 outbreak Rouhani's Government has allocated some 1000 billion Tomans to the Sistan and Baluchestan province to address the internet imbalance of the poverty-stricken province.

Azari Jahromi himself is scheduled to head for Sistan and Baluchistan next Sunday to facilitate and accelerate the process.
