Referring to the threat of terrorism to the West Asian region, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that Iran and Iraq must always be fully aware of the security threats posed by terrorist groups, including ISIS.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Baghdad, in a joint news conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Sunday, said: "Unfortunately, the US terrorist act in the martyrdom of top Iranian Commander Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and Second-in-Command of the Iraqi Mobilization Units Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was a great loss to the fight against terrorism in the region."

Zarif added that Iran and Iraq would be working together to pursue and prosecute the perpetrators of this crime.

Emphasizing that Iran and Iraq stand together against terrorism, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that Iran-Iraq relations have been stabilized with the blood of the youth of the two countries in the fight against ISIS and this relation will never end.

Zarif noted that it would be important for the Islamic Republic of Iran that the national sovereignty and territorial integrity and independence of Iraq are not violated by foreign aggression.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also stressed the expansion of economic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad, saying that the economic opportunities of Iran and Iraq can be used for the joint development of the two countries' people.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, for his part, also said at the news conference that Baghdad was seeking balanced relations with neighboring countries, adding that it was necessary to continue developing trade relations between Iran and Iraq despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Fouad Hussein also stressed the common regional interests and the non-interference of countries in each other's affairs, and the need to keep the region away from tensions.
