The military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement has praised a resistance operation near the Gush Etzion settlement and urged increased direct confrontation with Israeli forces and settlers across the occupied West Bank.

Why it matters:

This call signals a likely intensification of resistance in the West Bank, already a flashpoint amid Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

The big picture:

The Gush Etzion incident involved a combined shooting and stabbing attack carried out by two Palestinians.

Israeli media confirmed that a security guard—later identified as a military reservist—was killed in the attack.

The two resistance fighters were shot and killed at the scene.

Saraya al-Quds called the operation a "natural response" to Israel’s “annexation plans and forced displacement” of Palestinians in the West Bank.

What they're saying:

Statement from Saraya al-Quds:

“We urge the revolutionaries of our people in the West Bank to escalate direct confrontation with the occupying forces and settlers.”

“The Gush Etzion operation is a natural reaction to the Zionist regime’s ongoing policies of annexation and expulsion in the West Bank.”

The group congratulated the Palestinian people on a "heroic" act of resistance.
