Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono said Tokyo will closely monitor the impact of the US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from an international nuclear deal with Iran.
He added that Japan will continue close talks with various nations aimed at maintaining the deal.
China's special envoy for Middle East issues, Gong Xiaosheng, while announcing his country's support for the nuclear deal, said having a deal on Iran's nuclear program is better than no deal at all.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday, Gong Xiaosheng said his visit to the Islamic Republic addresses two important issues, namely, the nuclear deal, (JCPOA ) and the crisis in Syria. Gong said he had discussed these issues already in a number of meetings with Iranian officials.
The Chinese envoy said this is his second visit to Iran, and he praised Iran's development since his first visit to the country two years earlier. He added: "I am proud of being in Iran."
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he was reimposing economic sanctions on Iran and pulling the United States out of an international agreement.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says Tehran will stay in the JCPOA with other signatories, stressing that Iran has always complied with its commitments to the JCPOA, while the US has never complied with its obligations and commitments.
European leaders decried Trump's decision to withdraw from the deal, which had lifted sanctions against Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear programme.
They called on Washington not to take steps that would prevent other countries from upholding and implementing the nuclear agreement.
