Iraqi MP: Baghdad; bridge to cement Tehran-Riyadh ties

Baghdad (IP): Following the news of his respective country's mediation to resolve the dispute between Iran and Saudi Arabia, a member of the Iraqi parliament stressed that Baghdad is a bridge to bring Tehran and Riyadh closer together.

Iran Press/Middle East: "Muthanna Amin", a member of the Iraqi parliament, on Friday in an interview with the official "Ina" news agency said that the differences and tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia are not in the interest of the nations of the two countries and the region.

He said Iraq had a role to play in bringing Iran and Saudi Arabia closer together and resolving tensions and differences in the region.

The Iraqi MP said that Baghdad was a bridge between Iran and Saudi Arabia due to its geographical position together with political and national interests.

Amin continued that resolving tensions and differences between the two countries was a goal and a step for Iraq.

He stressed that Tehran and Riyadh had now announced their readiness to end their rivalries and disputes and that this opportunity should be used to end disputes, establish reconciliation and security in the region.

In this regard, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday that Baghdad supports all tools and methods of dialogue and negotiation to resolve disputes and reduce tensions in the region.
