Zahedan (IP) - The police chief of Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan province announced the security forces thwarted the attack of a terrorist group on the road of Zahedan to Khash against a Law enforcement patrol unit.

Iran Press/Iran news: Brigadier General Doostali Jalilian, chief police commander of Iran's Sistan and Baluchistan province, said on Thursday that the Police Forces of Zahedan were attacked by a terrorist group at the Zahedan-Kash road when they were on patrol operation.

According to General Jalilian, terrorists planted a booby trap on the road and detonated it when the "Rangers unit of police" who were on the patrol operation.

"After the blast, terrorists started shooting at police forces from several directions," he added.

Brigadier General Jalilian said that the police rangers took a tactical stance and put terrorists under heavy fire which led to terrorists leaving their positions.

A chase operation is underway by security forces in the province.

Fortunately, none of the police rangers suffered any injuries.

The police commander of Sistan and Baluchistan province said: "Terrorists have been pursued and efforts to punish the perpetrators of this terrorist act continue."
