IP- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov held a phone call to discuss regional issues and the implementation of the agreements that the two countries' presidents had made on December 7, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Iran PressIran news:  "The parties discussed several pressing regional and bilateral issues with a focus on the implementation of the agreements made during high-level Russian-Iranian talks in Moscow on December 7," the statement reads.

President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran held talks at the Kremlin on December 7, which lasted for over five hours. The parties addressed both bilateral and international issues, including the situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone.

According to the statement of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two foreign ministers also discussed the latest developments in the South Caucasus, Palestine, and Gaza and some bilateral and regional issues.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran called negotiations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia to reach a peace agreement as positive and announced that the countries of the region can play a constructive role in establishing and ensuring peace between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Responding to a part of the statement of the 6th meeting of the Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum in Morocco about the three Iranian islands stating that they were an integral part of Iran's territorial integrity, Amir-Abdollahian added: The Islamic Republic of Iran completely rejects any claim from any side in this regard.

Amir-Abdullahian added: Respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries is one of the fundamental principles in international relations, and Tehran is clear and decisive in respecting territorial integrity and issues related to its sovereignty. 

The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that the two top diplomats had also reviewed the schedule of upcoming meetings.
