Iran Press/ Iran News: The Specialized meeting on the role of women in multilateralism was held on Jan 24, 2023.
Ali-Akbar Matkan noted: "The 40-year achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with regard to the role of women and their rights at the national and international level, are prepared for all."
Matkan said: "We should use the available opportunities to show the world the true face of Iranian women."
The head of the parliament's environment faction said that multilateralism is one of the important goals of the world's countries in order to fight unilateralism and selfishness.
Somayeh Rafiei said women play effective roles in the fields of business, knowledge, technology, economy, and society, so it is necessary to use the capacities of women for interaction and joint communication, noting that the current era is the era of multilateralism.
Referring to the capacity of UNESCO in order to present programs regarding the achievements of Iranian women, she said: "voting to oust Iran has questioned multilateralism."
Recently, the United Nations voted to oust Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
A majority of the 54 members of the UN’s Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) voted on a US-drafted resolution to expel Iran from the Commission on the Status of Women for the remaining of its 2022-2026 elected term. A total of 29 countries elected to the Council voted in favor of expelling Iran.
