Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Es'haq Al-e-Habib, has said the Al-e-Saud regime of Saudi Arabia is a serious threat to peace and security of the Middle East, emphasizing that the corrupt and decadent leadership of Saudi Arabia has turned the land of Hejaz -- traditionally known as the land of peace and divine revelations -- into a safe haven for terrorists and extremists.
Commenting further Al-e-Habib said: "Saudi Arabia has managed to persuade its Western backers to go along with its foolish policies in Yemen and Syria by repeatedly playing the Iran card," Iran Press reported.
"Saudi Arabia supported the Daesh (ISIS) terrorists in Iraq and Syria, logistically, financially, ideologically, and militarily, whereas the Islamic Republic of Iran assisted the peoples and governments of Syria and Iraq to expel the terrorists from their countries," he added.
Al-e-Habib said, "I urge Saudi Arabia's leadership not to miscalculate more, and to rectify its short-sighted approach. Plunging the [Middle East] region into turmoil and instability, thinking that this would improve Riyadh's regional position is certainly futile and void and will benefit no one."
In further remarks, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations said: "The people of Saudi Arabia have no right to vote at the ballot box, have precious little human rights, and have no experience of democracy in their country. It was Saudi Arabia which kidnapped the prime minister of a sovereign Arab nation, not Iran."
"It was Saudi Arabia which gave billions of dollars worth of weaponry to Daesh terrorists in Syria, many of whom were Saudi citizens. It was Saudi Arabia which imposed a barbaric total land, sea and air blockade on a neighbouring country, starving its people and hoping to blackmail its neighbour. It was Saudi Arabia which helped the former Iraqi dictator Saddam during Iraq's invasion of Iran. 15 of the 18 terrorists who carried out the 11 September 2001 terror attacks in the United States were Saudi citizens," the Iranian top diplomat noted.
Al-e-Habib added: "When Iran was fighting Daesh terrorists and other terror groups in Afghanistan, it was Saudi Arabia's largesse which provided the terrorists with much-needed money and weaponry." 101/211
