Tehran (IP) - In a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Iran's President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian expressed Tehran's opposition to changes in international borders.

Iran Press/Iran news: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with the newly elected President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to congratulate him on his victory in the recent elections, according to Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the press secretary of the Armenian Prime Minister.

During the call, Pashinyan wished Pezeshkian an effective tenure as the Iranian president.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the agreements previously reached at the interstate level and agreed to meet at an upcoming opportunity.

Pezeshkian, a veteran parliamentarian, emerged victorious in Iran's runoff presidential election, receiving more than 16 million votes against former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili's 13 million out of over 30 million votes cast, according to the interior ministry.

The telephone conversation between the Armenian Prime Minister and Iran's President-elect highlights the importance of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Armenia, a neighboring nation to Iran, has maintained cordial ties with the Islamic Republic, and the leaders' commitment to previously reached agreements suggests a desire to further strengthen these ties under Pezeshkian's leadership.

As Pezeshkian prepares to assume office, the support and cooperation of neighboring countries like Armenia will be crucial in navigating the challenges ahead and pursuing a foreign policy that promotes regional stability and economic growth.
