The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran said in a statement regarding the response to the aggressive act of the Zionist regime against the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus: "This response is the exercise of the inherent right of self-defense according to the United Nations Charter".

Iran Press/Iran news:  "The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in exercising the inherent right of self-defense stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and in response to the repeated military aggressions of the Zionist regime and the martyrdom of Iran's official military advisers who were active in this country at the invitation of the Syrian government and especially the attack military dated April 1 to the diplomatic places of our country in Damascus, on April 14, carried out a series of military attacks against the military bases of this regime," the statement noted.

The statement stated, "While reaffirming its adherence to the principles and goals of the United Nations Charter and international law, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes its determination to decisively defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests against any illegal use of force and aggression".
"The Islamic Republic of Iran's resort to defensive measures in exercising the right to self-defense shows Iran's responsible approach to regional and international peace and security at a time when the illegal and genocidal actions by the Zionist apartheid regime against the Palestinian nation and the regime's repeated military aggression and warmongering against the neighboring governments are ongoing in the region and beyond," the statement highlighted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded, "If necessary, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to take more defensive measures to protect its legitimate interests against any aggressive military actions and illegal use of force".
