Iran Press/ Asia: The event is being held following consultations with Kazakh officials and due to the significance that the administration of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi attaches to effectively holding sessions of joint economic commissions with target countries, particularly the neighbors.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari weighed in on the development on the sidelines of a meeting of the headquarters of economic cooperation held at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
An Iranian delegation comprising representatives from both the public and private sectors, particularly a host of domestic businessmen and economic players, led by the Iranian agriculture minister, are due in Kazakhstan this week to discuss key issues pertaining to cooperation in different areas, namely banking, transportation and transit, agriculture, overseas cultivation, plans to boost trade, energy, ports cooperation etc. and sign several bilateral cooperation documents in the upcoming session.
Iran-Kazakhstan trade hovered around $450 million in the first ten months of 2022 when Iran’s exports to Kazakhstan rose 26.5% to $167 million and imports from that country touched $283 million, increasing 15%.
Technical and engineering services included trade between the two countries which are estimated at over $800 million so far.
The 17th session of the two countries’ Joint Economic Commission, hosted by Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, was held in Tehran in February 2022.
