Tehran (IP) - Mayors of Iran's major cities have sent a letter of condolences to their Lebanese counterpart Jamal Itani in Beirut in the wake of a tragic explosion that left many dead and injured.

Iran Press/Iran News: The mayors of the big cities of Iran wrote in their letter: "Hereby, we, as the mayors of major cities of Iran, express our deepest condolences to the dear and the grieving nation of Lebanon and all wounded."

The letter added that while wishing recovery for the injured, they declare their full readiness to provide any assistance to the citizens and the municipality of Beirut in order to return to normal conditions and create peace.

"We are confident that the only way to peace is to strengthen unity and empathy among the nations of the region, and that the municipalities of Iran's major cities will stand by the honorable citizens and officials of Beirut," concluded the letter.

The letter was signed by the mayors of Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Qom, Mashhad, Ahvaz, Shiraz, Karaj, Urmia, Ardabil, Zahedan, Kermanshah, Hamadan, Kerman, Rasht, Yazd, Arak, and Bandar Abbas.
