Iran Press/Iran News: Karim Hemmati said on Wednesday: "After last night's (Tuesday) explosion in the port of Beirut and talks with the head of the Lebanese Red Cross, the necessary coordination with our country's ambassador to Lebanon was done to send immediate aid to Beirut, including medical aid and food."
He explained: "The IRCS' humanitarian aid with a capacity of 95 tons of food and medicine along with a field hospital to help the victims of the accident, will be sent to Beirut today by two cargo planes."
The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society said: "Most of the medicines that are sent are for such accidents and include medicines for burns, trauma, fractures and the like."
He said: "The IRCS relief and treatment team will be stationed in Lebanon and the relief goods will continue to be sent to this country after examining the existing needs and problems."
Hemmati further referred to the dispatch of the IRCS team, including specialist physicians and surgeons, orthopedists, and anesthesiologists, saying: "Our medical team will perform primary treatment and surgery, as well as biological items according to the climatic conditions of the region."
The Iranian official added: "In addition, if treating the injured is not possible due to lack of facilities in Lebanon, a number of patients will be transferred to Iran to continue the treatment process."
Emphasizing that most of the aid will be medical and biological items, he added: "Tomorrow, we will send one or two cargos of pharmaceutical and biological items, as well as food packages to Lebanon."
