Iran Press/ Europe: After Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi made an emergency phone call to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday and stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran would hold the United States responsible for any incident happening to the Iranian plane on its way back, it is reported that Iranian mission in UN will soon send a letter of protest and details of the incident to this organization.
The letter will be sent to the Security Council and Secretary-General of the United Nations for registration as a document in this international organization.
Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi, referring to the incident for the Mahan Air bound for Beirut, said, "The details of the incident are under investigation and after completing the information, the necessary political and legal measures will be taken."
An Israeli fighter jet came close to an Iranian passenger plane over Syrian airspace causing the pilot to change altitude quickly to avoid a collision, which injured several passengers, media said.
