The Chinese delegation in Vienna has expressed deep regret over the issuance of an anti-Iran resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors.

Iran PressEurope: The Chinese Mission to Vienna's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) issued a statement on Friday expressing its regret over the IAEA Board of Governors for its proposed anti-Iran resolution.

WANG Qun China's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors over the proposed European Troika resolution (Britain, Germany, France) stressed that adopting such a resolution would have far-reaching consequences.

Chinese Ambassador in Vienna Wang Qun referred to recent tensions with regard to Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying: “The root causes of this situation lie in the unilateral and bullying practices of the US, as evidenced by its unilateral withdrawal from JCPOA and its policy of maximum pressure towards Iran.”

“In addition, the U.S. has not only ended the sanctions waiver covering all remaining JCPOA-originating nuclear projects but also openly pushed for the extension of the conventional arms embargo against Iran in UN Security Council in an attempt to completely destroy JCPOA,” he added.

The European Troika resolution against Iran was approved by the IAEA Board of Governors at a quarterly meeting, despite opposition from China and Russia.

In a resolution passed Friday, the three European countries, Britain, Germany and France, with the US support, called on Iran for an end to the claim of blocking IAEA inspectors' access to the two nuclear sites and for full cooperation.

Kazem Gharibabadi, the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the international organizations based in Vienna, in response to the adoption of the proposed resolution of the three European countries in the Board of Governors under the pretext of not providing two additional accesses to the IAEA, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran completely rejects the resolution of the Board of Governors and will take appropriate action in response to it.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, tweeted on Thursday night urging the three European countries not to become complicit in the crimes of the enemies of the JCPOA after failing to carry out their duties under that deal.
