Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian announced that two cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Electricity of Iraq have been finalized which are for the improvement and development of the electricity industry.

Iran Press/Iran news: On the sidelines of the visit of Iraqi delegation leading by Iraq's Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, Reza Ardakanian held a meeting with Iraqi Electricity Minister Majid Mahdi Hantoush.

"The intended agreements that are about the reduction of the losses of the electricity distribution network in the provinces of Karbala and Najaf as well as repairing distribution transformers in Iraq are going to be signed and finalized," Ardakanian said after the meeting.

Referring to the financial debts of the Iraqi side, Ardakanian added that "it was agreed in the meeting that the payment of debts will begin at the end of July."

Iraq's Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi met with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iran's President, Hassan Rouhani as well as other top Iranian officials during his visit to Iran.
