31st demise anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution kicks off

Tehran (IP) - The ceremony for the 31st demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini, with the attendance of various religious figures and intellectuals from around the world via videoconferencing and with the speech of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei kicked off.

Iran Press/Iran news: Every year, Iranians mark the Khordad 14 the demise anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution  Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in his opening speech at a ceremony held for the 31st demise anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution said that Imam Khomeini created big changes to the fates Iranians.

Speaking at a televised speech on Wednesday aired live by Iran Press, Ayatollah Khamenei said that spirit of change was one the most important feature of the characteristics of the great Imam.

"The Imam was a man of reformation who inspired many reformations; his role was not just that of a teacher, his role was that of a commander in the field of operations and a real leader," Leader of the Islamic Revolution said.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said: The great Imam is alive among us and we will benefit from his presence, spirituality, thought, and pointing finger."

Iranian on Wednesday mark the 31st demise anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution but not as usual due to health protocols for observing social distancing protocols to contain COVID-19.

Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 87.

He devoted many years of his life to stand up to the US-backed Pahlavi dynasty, and eventually paved the way for its downfall in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
