Tehran (IP): Afghanistan's Parliament Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani in a telephone conversation with Iran\s Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf discussed strengthening border security, bilateral relations, and regional developments.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a telephone conversation with Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on Monday, Afghanistan's Parliament Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani congratulated him on his election as Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and called for the continuation and expansion of the parliaments of the two countries. 

In this conversation, Qalibaf emphasized the capacity of the parliaments of the two countries, saying, "Strengthening friendly relations between Iran and Afghanistan is very important and we hope to increase the level of interaction between the two countries and see the expansion of relations in various fields."

Iranian Parliament Speaker also emphasized on strengthening the security of the two countries' border, adding that "with the close cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan, important measures can be taken to combat threats such as terrorism, narcotics and the involvement of third countries in stabilizing the region."

Qalibaf also offered his condolences to the Afghan parliament, government, and people over the recent terrorist attack in the country, which killed a number of Afghan citizens.

Congratulating the election of Qalibaf as Speaker of Iran's Parliament, Mir Rahman Rahmani stressed the readiness of the Afghan Parliament to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries in various political, cultural, and economic fields.

Emphasizing the historical relations between the two countries, the Afghan Parliament Speaker said, "The Afghan Parliament welcomes the continuation and expansion of its friendly relations with Iranian Parliament."
