Tehran (IP) - Head of interim presiding board Reza Taghavi said during the inauguration ceremony of the 11th round of Iran's Parliament that the country is the first one in Asia to have a parliament.

Iran Press/Iran News: Head of interim presiding board Reza Taghavi also stated, "Our country has had a parliament for 114 years and is the first country in Asia to have a parliament. The Majlis commemorates the memory of Martyr Hassan Modarres and intends to learn courage, frankness, politics, and religion from him."

During the inauguration ceremony of the 11th round of Iran's Parliament, Executive Deputy of Parliament Gholamhossein Nouri stated that "The administrative section of the Iranian parliament is among the top 10 parliaments in the world. One of the most important measures in this section is the elimination of paper and promoting electronic communication. Also, strengthening public relations and benefiting from the elites has always been the focus of this section." 

He added, "During the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the executive deputy of the parliament was able to hold the meetings in a visual manner, and also hold the ceremony during the COVID-19 pandemic."

The 11th round of Iran's parliamentary elections was held on Friday, Feb 21, 2020, in 208 poll stations throughout Iran. 24,512,404 people participated in this election.
