Tehran (IP) - Director-General of International cooperation of Iran's Ministry of Health on Saturday stressed the key role of the World Health Organization(WHO) in combating COVID-19.

Iran PressIran news: General Director of International Cooperation of Iran's Ministry of Health, Mohsen Asadi-Lari in an online meeting of Ministers of Health of the Member States of the Non-Aligned Movement titled "unity against COVID-19" has called for expanding cooperation among NAM member states to contain the disease as well as to ensure the fair access to Vaccines, medicine, and the medical equipment.

Asadi Lari, referring to the National Mobilization plan to control the coronavirus in Iran, said: "In the first phase, 78 million people were screened with the help of powerful primary healthcare infrastructure (PHC), which led to a significant reduction in hospital admissions."

The Director-General of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Health of Iran added: In the second stage, more than 38 million high-risk individuals have been screened so far.

Asadi Lari also called for the immediate and effective action of the international community to counter unilateralism, with the aim of ensuring the effectiveness of the national response to the COVID-19 epidemic.
