Iran Foreign Ministry rejects US claims on \"freedom of religions\"

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman while rejecting and condemning the annual report on the freedom of religions, called it a clear interference in the internal affairs of other countries and based on misinformation.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, referring to the release of the annual report on "Freedom of Religion in the World" by the US State Department, stated: "In this report, false and baseless allegations about our country and especially the situation of Jews in Iran have been raised."

"None of which is correct about the legal and official religions in the Islamic Republic of Iran and it is rejected", Mousavi highlighted.

Mousavi added the US government has repeatedly and in a new report reiterated baseless and undocumented allegations against religious freedom in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the report indicating a lack of understanding of the situation in Iran.

It also shows the well-taking advantage of invalid and anti-Iranian information and resources being involved in its preparation.

Rejecting unrealistic and biased allegations in the report, Mousavi called its release as an interference in the internal affairs of other countries stressing such acts of interference taken by the United States is condemned.

Mousavi noted that such blatant interference in the internal affairs of countries and the publication of superficial reports against them took place when millions of poor and homeless people in various American cities who are below the poverty line being deprived of basic rights and services and medical care, a situation that has taken a tragic and catastrophic shape with the widespread and terrible crisis of coronavirus outbreak in this country, which has led to the death of tens of thousands of American citizens.

The spokesman emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always respected the rights of religious minorities within the framework of its constitution and they have fully benefited from all civil rights, especially political participation in the country's processes and following their religious orders.

Mousavi added: "Iran has long enjoyed a society with diverse religions, ethnicities, cultures and original languages, whom people have chosen as a place and refuge for their social, cultural and economic life over thousands of years. Also, the people of Iran, with any religion, language, or faith, continue to enjoy the sweet taste of such diversity and beauty.
