Tehran (IP) - Iranians all over the world are celebrating Nowruz, a traditional festival and a holiday that marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

Iran's new year celebrations are a major festivity and an important part of the rich flourishing culture of the Iranian people.

One of the Iranian traditions in Nowruz is spreading the Haft-Sin table.

The arrangement is a symbol of freshness and happiness and a reason to bring together family members in the spiritual moments of the New Year's Day.

In the Haft-Sin table, there are seven plants and edible seeds begin with the letter "s" (letter "sin" in the Persian alphabet) and symbolizes the abundance of agricultural products.

Nowruz is also celebrated across the world by various countries, particularly in Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

Nowruz this year has coincided with the outbreak of coronavirus in many countries, including Iran, and has affected people's holidays, limiting their gatherings and travels.
