The registration ceremony of the city of Yazd as a new member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities was held at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Iran Press/Iran news: Secretary-General of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, Hojatollah Ayoubi, said at the ceremony on Wednesday that UNESCO and the world have acknowledged that the city of Yazd has universal values in education.

Ayoubi pointed out that by registering Yazd as a city of learning, its architecture and education must be taken more seriously, adding that "Yazd is a global city and today it has become more global in education," Iran Press reported.

Yazd is the 7th Iranian city to join the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities after Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad, Kashan, Arak, and Hashtgerd. 101/211/218
