Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with Iran Press news agency on Monday, the organizer and executive secretary of the fourth National cherry festival, Taher Kashekhi said: "The main aim of this festival is to promote and advertise the first class cherries that we produce here in Ashnouyeh, both inside Iran and also for export abroad."
"About 350 to 400 Hectares of land are devoted to cherry orchards and cherry cultivation in Ashnouyeh, with many different types of cherries being cultivated. This is why Ashnouyeh is referred to as the cherry capital of Iran," Taher Kashekhi noted.
Kashekhi added: "About 1500 to 2000 tonnes of cherries are produced in Ashnouyeh each year, and these are used both for internal consumption and also for exporting, particularly to regional countries such as Iraq, Russia, and Persian Gulf littoral states."
