Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called for serious transformation in Tehran–Kabul's economic relation in the meeting with Afghan Parliament Speaker in Tehran on Saturday.

Iran Press/Iran news"Relations of Tehran and Kabul are beyond neighbourliness, therefore overcoming terrorism, and establishment of security, stability and economic development in Afghanistan is very important for the Islamic Republic of Iran," Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told Afghan Parliament Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi in a meeting which held on the sidelines of the "Second Conference of Parliament Speakers’" in the Iranian capital of Tehran attended by Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, China, Russia, and Afghanistan's parliamentary heads and delegations.

“Relations between Iran and Afghanistan is developing in different fields, and currently, Iran has constructed the railway to the border of Afghanistan to connect the rail systems of the two countries,” Rouhani said according to Iran Press.

Iranian President said: "Chabahar region is a very good opportunity for development of economic relations between the two countries and for investment and investors."

Chabahar port located in southeastern of Iran on the Gulf of Oman. It serves as the Iran's only oceanic port, and consists of two separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti.

On the production of drugs, the President added: “The issue of drugs has made many harms to both Iranian and Afghan nations and fighting it seriously depends on cooperation between the two countries.”

Speaker of the Parliament of Afghanistan Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said in this meeting that Iran and Afghanistan have a lot of common grounds with regard to culture.

“Iran and Afghanistan are both major victims of terrorism in the region and the world and we believe that cooperation between the two countries in fighting terrorism will benefit not only the two, but also the entire region,” he continued.

Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi also thanked Iran for hosting Afghan refugees and providing education to afghan's children.

Afghan parliament Speaker said: "Afghanistan considers Chabahar as an important center for developing regional cooperation, and Kabul intends to develop cooperation with Islamic republic of Iran.
