The Ambassador and Deputy Representative of Iran to the United Nations, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement, said the continuation of brutal attacks by the genocidal Zionist regime against the defenseless people of Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip, is condemned.

Iran PressAmerica: Iran's Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Zahra Ershadi, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), said that the movement slams the Israeli regime’s continued aggression on Gaza.

Zahra Ershadi read out a statement on behalf of the NAM members on Tuesday local time at the meeting of the special committee of the United Nations Charter.

The Iranian diplomat said that the NAM categorically denounced the Israeli regime's continued brutal military operation against the defenseless Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip.

Zahra Ershadi added: "The Non-Aligned Movement expresses great concern over the warnings of the UN special rapporteurs about the open Israeli genocidal acts in the Gaza Strip, and demands the commitment of the international community to prevent the genocide committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and to take all necessary measures to end it."

The Movement welcomes a request by South Africa on December 29, 2023, to bring a lawsuit against the Israeli regime at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the violation of the commitments under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, she added.

The United States once again vetoed the resolution proposed to establish an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, this time presented by Algeria on behalf of the Arab Group countries in the United Nations. The draft of the resolution received 13 positive votes from the members of this council. 219
