Gaza (IP) – The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has placed the blame for the deaths of captives in Gaza squarely on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Joe Biden.

Iran Press/West Asia: In a statement released on Sunday, Izzat al-Rishq, a senior member of Hamas' Political Bureau, asserted that the Israeli government's continued military actions and refusal to agree to a ceasefire are directly responsible for the fatalities among those held by the resistance in Gaza. He further accused the U.S. administration of complicity, citing its unwavering support for Israel's genocide in Gaza.

"The responsibility for the deaths of these captives lies with Netanyahu's government, which persists in its genocidal campaign and evades ceasefire negotiations, as well as with the U.S. administration, which provides financial and military backing to the Israeli regime," al-Rishq stated. He added that if President Biden is genuinely concerned about the captives' lives, he should cease all support for Israel and press for an immediate halt to the war.

Al-Rishq emphasized that Netanyahu, his hardline cabinet, and their international supporters would ultimately be held accountable for what he described as 11 months of "brutal crimes and genocide" against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas' statement follow the discovery of six captives' bodies in Rafah, as reported by the Israeli military on Sunday morning. These individuals were taken captive on October 7, 2023, during Hamas' Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. Among the deceased was an American national, according to a statement from the White House.
