Farhadi’s movie has been nominated for the best actor, best movie, best soundtrack, best director, best actress and best Scenario, Iran press reported.
The 33rd Goya Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AACCE) will be presented at the Conference and Exhibition Palace of Seville on February 2, 2019 to honor the best in Spanish films of 2018.
The ceremony will be televised in Spain by the Spanish public television (TVE) and hosted by television host and comedian Andreu Buenafuente and actress Silvia Abril. It will be also televised for the international public by the TVE International channel.
Asghar Farhadi's 'Everybody Knows' is the inaugural film. The film follows Laura (Penelope Cruz) on her travels from Argentina to her small home town in Spain for her sister's wedding, bringing her two children along for the occasion. Amid the joyful reunion and festivities, the eldest daughter is abducted.
The film also opened the 2018 Cannes Film Festival in competition and was released in Spain on 14 September 2018.
Asghar Farhadi has received two Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film for his films A Separation (2012) and The Salesman (2016), making him one of the few directors worldwide who have won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film twice. In 2012, he was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.
On 26 February 2012, "A Separation" became the first Iranian movie to win an Oscar for the best foreign language film at the 84th edition of the Academy Awards. This marked Farhadi as the first Iranian to have won an Academy Award in any of the competitive categories.
On 26 February 2017, he won his second Oscar for Best Foreign Film for The Salesman at the 89th Academy Awards. The Salesman had already won the award for the Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival. Following Donald Trump's executive order barring Iranians from entering the country, Farhadi said he would not attend the 2017 Academy Awards, despite being nominated, and then winning, for the best foreign-language film. 204
