Spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the Saudi coalition's relentless air and ground attacks would be met with an appropriate and painful response.

Iran PressMiddle East: Brigadier General Yahya Saree added on Thursday that the Saudi-backed militants continue their attacks on various fronts, with more than 13 advance operations and infiltration into Yemeni territory over the past week on Ma'rib, Al-Bayda, Ad Dali, Al-Jawf provinces and northern borders.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree added on Thursday that the Saudi-backed militants continue their attacks on various fronts, with more than 13 advance operations and infiltration into Yemeni territory over the past week on Ma'rib, Al-Bayda, Ad Dali, Al-Jawf provinces and northern borders.

He went on to say that 200 airstrikes have been carried out by the Saudi coalition against various provinces of Yemen last week.

"Saudi-led forces have carried out more than 65 offensive attacks and nearly 700 airstrikes since April 9, and that the operations were performed in the province of Ma'rib, Sana'a, Al-Jawf, Ad Dali, Sa'dah, Al Hudaydah, and Amran," the Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman announced.

General Saree warned: "The Saudi coalition's relentless air and ground attacks will be met with an appropriate and painful response."

The attacks came days after the Saudi-led military coalition decided to extend the ceasefire for a month, according to its spokesman Turki al-Maliki.

A two-week ceasefire in Yemen announced earlier by the alliance expired on Thursday, without leading to a permanent truce.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched the devastating war on Yemen in March 2015 in order to bring the country’s former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and crush Ansarullah movement.

Since then, over 100,000 people have been killed, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).
