Iran Press/ Middle East: Salih stressed the importance of considering the political and security conditions in the country to choose an efficient PM who will be able to conduct fair elections in accordance with the electoral law that guarantees a fair representation of the people and their free will.
The President also asserted rejecting violence, confronting outlaws who target peaceful protests and public security, and emphasizing protecting constitutional rights of peaceful demonstrations.
In a letter to Iraqi President Barham Salih on 4 Dec, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mohammed al-Halbusi called for the timely introduction of the next Iraqi Prime Minister.
The Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi submitted his resignation on 30 Nov to the parliament, calling on Iraqi lawmakers to elect a successor as soon as possible.
In an emergency meeting on Dec 1st, the Iraqi parliament accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.
On October 1, anti-government rallies erupted in Iraq and lasted for one week, with demonstrators protesting against unemployment, corruption and poor living conditions.
The new round of popular demonstrations in Iraq in a peaceful manner began as of October 25, in various cities, including Baghdad the capital, Karbala, Basra, Najaf and other cities in protest at corruption and the poor state of the economy.
The Iraqis peaceful protests are aimed at forcing the government to meet their demands.205
