Iran will stand by Iraqi nation, government: Rouhani

Tehran (IP) - Iran’s President stated that Iran will always fully support the Iraqi government and people, adding that Iran has always been standing by Iran in line with the interests of the two nations.

Iran Press/Iran News: In a telephone conversation with Mustafa al-Kazemi on Monday, Hassan Rouhani congratulated him for being elected as the new Prime Minister of Iraq and said: “We are very happy that someone who has a good understanding of the recent developments in this country has taken the responsibility.”

Stating that Iraq's independence, political stability, national sovereignty, and unity are very important to Iran, Rouhani expressed hope that the friendly relations between Tehran and Baghdad will further develop and expand.

Referring to the need to ensure peace and stability in the region, Rouhani stressed: "During the fight against ISIS, we proved that we stand by the Iraqi people, and now, we will be standing by the Iraqi government to ensure the stability and progress of the country."

Iraq calls for deepening of relations with Iran in all fields

During the same telephone conversation, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi called the Islamic Republic of Iran a friend and brother of Iraq and said: "Iran's assistance as a key country in the region in establishing security and stability in Iraq, especially in the fight against ISIS, will never be forgotten." 

“We want to develop and deepen relations with Iran in all fields,” he added.

Stating that the world and the region are in a critical situation, the Iraqi Prime Minister said: "Any problem will be solved with wisdom, logic, and rationality, and I hope that with close cooperation between the two countries, we will be able to overcome the problems."
