Iranians celebrate Holy Ramadan while adhering coronavirus restrictions

Tehran (IP) - Despite the outbreak of coronavirus, Iranians fast according to the principles of health guidelines and hold religious rites individually to celebrate this holy, blessed month.

Iran Press/Iran news: As the coronavirus outbreak put restrictions on all social interactions, this year, holy Ramadan's mass ceremonies such as Iftar or Quran recitation, and mass prayers at holy sites have given way to individual prayers and worship at home.

Meanwhile, Iranians fast according to the principles of health guidelines regarding the coronavirus and hold religious rites individually to celebrate this holy, blessed month.

In addition to this, many people dedicate their votives and oblations of Iftar ceremonies to charity for the poor.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar that is observed by Muslims worldwide. While fasting from dawn until sunset, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking. Moon sighting is carried in Iran by the Office of  Islamic Revolution Leader prior to the fasting month to declare the beginning of the holy month.

The month lasts 29 or 30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. Eid Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
