Tehran (IP) - Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman announced that as of Tuesday, a total of 60,965 people who were infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been recovered and discharged from hospitals across Iran.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at his daily press conference on Tuesday about the latest data on the deadly coronavirus in the country and the deaths caused by the virus, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health Kianoush Jahanpour said: "According to the definitive laboratory findings and from yesterday to April 21 in the country, 1,297 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed in the country and the number of patients with this disease reached 84,802." 

Fortunately, 60,965 patients have recovered and have been discharged so far, Jahanpour added.

The head of the Health Ministry's Public Relations Center said: "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 88 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives, and 5,297 people have lost their lives in the country to date."

He stated: "3,357 patients are in a critical condition."

So far, more than 365,000 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted in the country.

The global case tally for the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 has climbed to nearly 2.5 million. The death toll rose to more than 170,000, while more than 650,000 have recovered from the disease.
