Tehran (IP) - Iranian President, in the meeting of National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus stated that all countries are affected by the coronavirus, but it was difficult for Iranian people due to the US sanctions.

Iran PressIran News: During the meeting of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus on Sunday, Hassan Rouhani said: "The low-risk businesses started operating on Farvardin 23 (April 11), and Tehran started this activity yesterday, and it was important for us that the people have full cooperation."

He noted: “All countries are affected by the coronavirus. The virus has affected people’s social and political lives, as well as global politics and the world economy. But it has been more difficult for our people. One of the reasons for that is the sanctions that we have had for the past two years."

President Rouhani added: "We have to tell the people that we will continue the previous conditions until mid-Ordibehesht (early May), and we will hold meetings again, and we will consider the conditions of the country to make next decisions."

"Since we do not have Iftar ceremonies during the month of Ramadan, everyone should help the needy people," Rouhani said.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. After evening call for prayer, some break their fast during public Iftar banquets held every night in the mosques, parks, and many charity centers.

COVID-19 has infected more than 2.25 million people and killed at least 158,000 worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman announced that so far more than 55,987 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease and reported a decrease in daily death toll for the 6th consecutive days with 73 deaths.
