Tehran (IP) - 1,634 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed in the country in the past 24 hours which shows a sharp decrease in the number of cases compared to the 1,997 cases on April 8.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Head of the Public Relations Center of the Health Ministry, Kianoush Jahanpour on Thursday about the latest data on the deadly coronavirus in the country and the deaths caused by the virus said, "According to the definitive laboratory findings and from yesterday to April 9 in the country, 1,634 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed in the country and the number of patients with this disease reached 66,220."

Kianoush Jahanpour on April 8 said that 1,997 new patients with COVID-19 have been identified.

He mentioned that the process is in decreasing way and it is only because of the cooperation of people and all organizations.

Fortunately, 32,309 patients have recovered and have been discharged so far, Jahanpour added.

The head of the Ministry of Public Relations Center said, "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 117 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives, and 4,110 people in total have lost their lives in the country to date."

He stated, " 3,918 patients are in a critical condition."

"231,393 have been tested from yesterday until Thursday noon, according to Jahanpour.
