Coronavirus; a global threat must be ended by global will: SCCR

Tehran (IP) - In a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the head of Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution (SCCR) stated that international political and legal measures are needed to overcome the global threat of coronavirus.

Iran Press/Iran news: Head of Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution (SCCR) Seyyed Saeed Reza Ameli said that despite dire shortages of medical supplies to prevent and treat COVID-19, dedicated doctors and nurses, as well as NGOs and governmental bodies, are fighting coronavirus, yet international political and legal measures are needed.

Ameli stressed that the pandemic has engulfed the universe, the attack of the wild virus must be taken as an opportunity to establish a peaceful movement to a more secure world freer from biologic weapons.

No matter the virus has been either produced with strategic goals or created naturally, he said, it has turned to something more horrible than nuclear arms proliferation, a catastrophe the depth of which is perceptible by people of the world.

“Now the wise tradition of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) is understood that ‘health’ and ‘security’ are two gifts not appreciated as long as they are not lost,” Ameli pinpointed.

He stressed the precious awareness of the international community has provided an opportunity to review the international conventions on biologic weapons and intensify preventive measures to completely block any space for anti-humanitarian activities under the cover of scientific research for humanitarian purposes.

The head of Iran’s Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution (SCCR) expressed hope for a world full of justice, peace, spirituality, and free from any violence, dominance, war, and sanctions.
