Tehran (IP) - The Acting Chief of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Karim Hemmati answered the question of Iran Press on the Coronavirus outbreak in Iran via video conference, saying Red Crescent stands by Health Ministry, Since Coronavirus outbreak.

Iran PressIran News: In response to IP's question on the cooperation of Red Crescent Society with Health ministry, Hemmati stated, “Since the beginning of the outbreak of Coronavirus, Red Crescent Society stood by Health Ministry, now by the request of Health Ministry, 500,000 cancer-diagnosed patients and those who have rare diseases are under Red Crescent Society's support."

"In addition to our own duties, we were present at all of social and disease control activities that we were asked to do, and we did a good work regarding that," he added.

Karim Hemmati, speaking at a news conference on Friday via video conferencing, noted that the Red Crescent has been stood by the Ministry of Health, universities of medical sciences and crisis management since the beginning of the crisis, and has been providing services with the help of donators and volunteers.

On Thursday, Iranian Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour announced that so far, 50468 people in the country have definitely been infected with the coronavirus, 3160 people have died due to the disease and 16711 have recovered and discharged from hospitals across Iran.

Worldwide, the total number of infections recorded since the beginning of the outbreak reached more than 1 million people. Some 200,000 people have recovered globally while nearly 53,000 have died.
