Kish (IP) - Kish Island in Hormozgan Province, one of the tourist destinations in southern Iran in the Persian Gulf, has been closed these days due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Iran PressIran News: In previous years, many Iranian and foreign tourists used to travel to Kish Island in spring on Nowruz Holiday, but this year it has become devoid of tourists due to the spread of coronavirus.

Residents on the island of Kish also refused to walk on the beautiful beaches of the Persian Gulf and all over the city to stop the transmission of the disease and spread of the virus as the part of "Stay at Home" campaign.

Worldwide, the total number of infections recorded since the beginning of the outbreak reached more than 937,000. Some 195,000 people have recovered globally while nearly 47,000 have died.

According to Iran's Ministry of Health, so far 47593 people in the country have definitely been infected with the coronavirus, 3036 died of the disease and 15473 have recovered.
