Tehran (IP) - Iran's Energy Minister has said that the global message of the current election is that Iranian people correctly recognized that they are the main owners of the country and the government.

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said: "The global message is that the Iranian people correctly recognized that they are the main owners of the country and the government."

He went on saying: "Every year they are exercising (their right) and even if we look at the situation in this way, the sanctions that imposed on us are the result of this recognition; why the sanctions are imposed on the people? Fifty years ago, when they wanted to change a government, they made a call for someone or at the maximum, they arrange a meeting with an ambassador and changed the government! One goes out and the other one comes in. Because at that time, people were nowhere!"

"But now, the people are in the core of the ownership and when you want to change something, you are pressuring on the people; so it is the main issue that Iranian people have recognized correctly." Ardakanian said, adding: "They came to streets on the national day of February 11 (22 Bahman) to safeguard the whole Islamic Republic and today, they come to pooling stations in all cities for national elections for shaping a new parliament. This parliament has a lot of powers, not only making laws but evaluating and observing executive activities of the government. This is the main message." 212/ 207
