Iran Press/Iran news: Talking about the effect of people's presence in elections on US' sanctions policy, the Chief of Staff of the President Mahmoud Vaezi in an exclusive interview with Iran Press said: "The US have made this mistake many times, and the US itself has been making this mistake for 40 years because it has not recognized the Iranian people, the Iranian system and the Iranian leadership."
He further noted: "They are sitting in Washington discussing these issues, consulting with some of Iran's enemies, some of whom may be Iranians, and think that if they make such decisions, the result is that the people of Iran are listening to them and their participation will decrease."
Referring to the online process of elections, Vaezi said: "What we saw online at the Ministry of Interior is very promising. This is the best response to US sanctions. This is the best response to the US maximum pressure, as well as the sanctions announced yesterday. This is another mistake the US has made. People's political participation shows that they can form a better parliament for their country and can solve their problems through this widespread presence."
The US on Thursday designated five members of Iran's Guardian Council, including Secretary of Guardian Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, over accusations that they are impeding fair elections in the country.
