Iran Press/ Iran News: Jamal Orf said on Friday in an exclusive interview with Iran Press that the turnout of the people who freely chose to vote for their candidates conveys the message that the elections in Iran are free and fair in a way that every individual who wants to take part in this national celebration can do as he or she wishes and at the same time the one who does not want do so will not be blamed for.
The Iranian official further explained that during the past 41 years, the majority of the Iranians have chosen to come to the polling stations to realize their very own rights.
Orf's remarks came as Iran's Feb 21 parliamentary elections are underway all across the Islamic country.
Nearly 58 million people are eligible to vote on preselected lists of candidates for Iran's 11th parliamentary elections.
The Iranian Parliament, officially known as the Islamic Consultative Assembly, is a 290-seat legislative body with 207 constituencies. Its members are elected every four years, and former and current members can be re-elected.
On the other hand, the Assembly of Experts is a deliberative body of 88 theologians tasked with choosing the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Members of the assembly are elected every eight years.
