The annual meeting of anti-narcotics police commanders has begun in Tehran, attended by top Iranian police commander Hossein Ashtari.

Iran PressIran news: Top police commander Hossein Ashtari in a speech at the conference on Monday 27 January 2020, condemned the act of terrorism of the United States, the targeted assassination of prominent IRGC Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

In another part of his speech, General Ashtari thanked all his colleagues in the anti-narcotics branch and added that discovery of drugs by police force has increased by 18 percent.
He pointed out that the narcotics production in Afghanistan has soared by 50 percent, following the presence of the US military forces in that country.

Emphasizing on the need for a roadmap for fighting drug trafficking, the top police commander said: "We must first develop the infrastructures to fight with this phenomenon, and secondly use the capacities and capabilities of the country and finally use the country's art capacities for fighting this issue."
