Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister has said the United States has been isolated within the UN Security Council by the actions of Iran's Foreign Ministry against US hostilities.

Iran Press/ Iran News: In today's open session of Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Javad Zarif answered a question from an MP representing the people of the cities of Kashan and Aran and Bidgol Seyyed Javad Sadatinejad about the Foreign Ministry's actions in response to the US and European support of rioters and vandals in the 2017–18 protests.

Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran's Foreign Ministry took several steps against US intervention in 2017-2018 protests, most notably to thwart US design at the UN Security Council, Iran Press reported.

"As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the United States has decided to bring the issue of the 2017–18 Iranian protests to the Security Council by misusing the mechanisms of the Security Council," he said.

"The foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran was so successful that the meeting the US had organized became in effect its own trial at the UN security council," Zarif added.

Zarif added, "We have proposed that we file a complaint in International Court of Justice on the basis of Article 1 of the Principles of Algeria Agreement and we have submitted it to the Security Council and other authorities. We also presented positions taken by the Islamic Republic in various areas."

He further explained: "We asked the ambassadors in Tehran to explain the US intervention. I explained US intervention in media. While we all recognize the right of the people to peaceful protest, we do not accept foreign intervention as we strongly condemned the intervention of the British ambassador in the recent demonstration."

In response to Zarif's remarks, Seyyed Javad Sadatinejad said Iranian diplomats and ambassadors should be more active abroad, adding: "In my opinion, Iran's Foreign Ministry has not taken a good step in this regard and there is a weakness in the actions against the cruel US sanctions."
