Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreazais

Tehran (IP) - Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreazais arrived in Tehran on Monday starting a three-day visit at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Mohammad-Javad Zarif.

Iran Press/ Iran News: The visiting official is heading a high-ranking delegation to hold meetings with Zarif as well as other top Iranian officials to discuss issues of mutual interest, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi announced prior to his visit.

Earlier in October, Zarif met in New York his Venezuelan counterpart who is a former vice-president on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Also in October 2019, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Baku.

Last July, the Iranian foreign minister traveled to the Venezuelan capital Caracas to meet with several officials after attending a UN session in New York.

Arreaza is an influential Venezuelan politician who has held several important positions in the administration of late President Hugo Chávez and his successor Nicolás Maduro. 207
