British ambassador to Tehran Rob Macaire

British ambassador to Tehran was summoned by the Iranian Foreign Ministry following the unacceptable statements by the British Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary about Trump's terrorist act in assassinating Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani and his martyred companions.

Iran PressIran news: Following the unacceptable statements by the British Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary about Trump's terrorist act in assassinating Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his martyred companions, Rob Macaire was summoned by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

Iranian Foreign Minister’s Aide for European Affairs, during the meeting with the British Ambassador, strongly condemned the statements by the UK officials and voiced Iran’s severe protest against the British government’s stances in this regard.

He said that such stances mean accompaniment to US terrorist action and are unjustifiable and unacceptable, and the United Kingdom could be regarded as a partner in such crimes.

Macaire said that his government believes that escalating tensions in the current situation is in no one's interest. He said he would convey the message to London as soon as possible.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, earlier on Tuesday, described the positions of the three European countries (France, German, and Britain) in the aftermath of the US assassination of Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani as inappropriate.
