Tehran (IP) - Iran's religious minority members in parliament issued a statement describing the Canadian-backed Declaration of the UN Human Rights Council's statement against Iran as politically motivated and said it was a tool to put pressure on Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: At the seventy-fourth session of the United Nations General Assembly, resolutions were put on the agenda, one of which was the human rights resolution against Iran proposed by Canada.

In the voting, the resolution passed by 81 in favor, 30 against, 7 abstained.

12 members of the UN didn't participate.

The Declaration of Religious Minorities states, Although the resolution appears to have human rights content, it is, in essence, a political statement that seeks to exert pressure on Iran with specific strategic goals.
