Tehran (IP) - Iran's Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said that given Iran's role in water and electricity, Tehran covers areas of cooperation with other countries within the framework of economic cooperation commission.

Iran PressIran news: On the sidelines of the 34th international power system conference 9-11 Dec 2019, Reza Ardakanian, Iran's energy minister, in an interview with Iran Press News Agency stressed that Iran's ministry of energy represents the Iranian side in some economic cooperation commission meetings at regional level, saying other countries taking part include Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, as well as the Russian Federation.

He stated: "For sure, we have priority in our cooperation with those countries in electricity-generating sector and now, for example, we are working together on the synchronization of our system with the Russian Federation and transmission of electricity with Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, and Iraq."

Ardakanian added: "With some countries such as Iraq, and Syria, we have a special agreement on modernisation of their national electricity grid and power system. So our cooperation with these countries is not limited to exporting electricity."
